VW offers the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . It has 200hp, a DSG, bespoke interior, and is available in passenger or panel van versions.

kinda cool - but the front bumper looks like they took it off another vehicle and just bolted it on there

Yeah, it’s like that stupid F150 with 450hp and baja suspension?

It’s a shot at the Transit vans that do something similar, I bet

So it’s a tallboi GTI. I love it
![]() 10/20/2018 at 13:26 |

That’s pretty cool. I’d take it over Dodge or Toyota’s “Man Van”s.

Like Winterlegacy says about the Ford Transit.
Ford do a Sport trim on the Transit Custom.
And other companies do the same.
like the Vauxhall Vivaro Sportive, etc...

According to that link though, the Kombi does not have a 3rd row.

Well, that’s super cool. In a goofy-Dad-car kind of way
![]() 10/20/2018 at 14:15 |

It comes in a one row van, two row kombi and a three row Transport.

Doesn’t look like the Sportline comes in a 3-row version. Just the two-row kombi or the one-row panel van. It seems you have to get the Shuttle for a third row.
![]() 10/20/2018 at 14:43 |

It also can’t seem to determine if it seats 5 or 6 people in those two rows. I wonder if the third row from the Shuttle could be fitted...

I take it to mean 5 passengers, 6 people total.
![]() 10/20/2018 at 15:01 |

My bad. I thought they all came in Sportline trim.
![]() 10/20/2018 at 15:03 |

I stand corrected. As for Michigan just pointed out to me, the Shuttle people carrier doesn’t come in Sportline trim just the van and the Kombi.
![]() 10/20/2018 at 15:09 |

Which makes no sense to me, that a vehicle that size would even be available with just two rows.
![]() 10/20/2018 at 15:29 |

Oh, that’s not to say the Transporter isn’t available in three row configuration, just not Sportline trim.
There’s the three row Shuttle
the seven seat Caravelle Executive (while techn ically three row from here, I guess)
Then there’s the Caravelle SE which is similar to the Executive, but a little longer.
Also avail from manufacturer as a camper called the California
or Campervan
and a company in the U.K. called DoubleBack even make a conversion that stretches, well electrically extends.

No, I meant it shouldn’t be available with only 2 rows. That market is oversaturated and buying a big tall 2 row van over literally any hatch/wagon makes no sense.
![]() 10/20/2018 at 15:48 |

Maybe just to give it that Scirocco/ Golf GTI look

It’s a work van. A panel van . A two row VW Transporter makes as much sense as a two row Ford F150.
It can shuttle you and up to 5 colleagues to a work location and still carry a shitload of tools and whatnot . You would not be able to do so in a three row vehicle.
How many pickup trucks did you see during your stay in Italy versus panel vans like the Transporter? My point being, in 95% of cases where an American would use a pickup truck as a work truck, a European uses a panel van. Like the VW Transporter.

As Duurtlang points out. It’s a work vehicle, crew cab, to transport 5 or 6 persons to a work site and still have a load area to the rear, with or without a bulkhead. With a bulkhead it’s strictly a crew cab vehicle, but without and the rear seats taken out you can use the full area to the rear of the front row of seats as a larger van.
Because it’s classed as a commercial vehicle, businesses can get tax reductions.
It's actually quite an ideal vehicle in some areas because you can carry up to 5 or 6 persons, have a large flexible load area, etc...

interesting - that’s exactly it, just pokes out a little more on the sides. It’s kinda growing on me.

Why do I want this?
